The Region of Crete, the Regional Unit of Chania, the Municipality of Chania, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania and Omen Art Shop Gallery organise a unique graphic design poster exhibition for raising charity funds, entitled “100 Posters for Crete”. 100 graphic designers, who live and work in Greece, Cyprus and many other cities abroad, were invited to design disinterestedly one poster each about Crete, without any subject or technique restrictions. The feedback to the request was so massive that the positions were filled almost instantly by 100 talented creators. The chosen posters will be sold in copies at a low cost, as the raised money will be offered to support “ELEPAP Chania” and “Orizontas”, two of the most active charity organisations in Chania. The visitors of the exhibition, besides contributing the organisations mentioned above, will also enjoy themselves watching 100 different works of art depicting every aspect of life on the island, including civilization, culture, tourism, ecology, nutrition etc. The creators cover a wide range of techniques and subjects through their work, offering food for thought to the visitor as well as humorous moments at times. The aim of the exhibition is firstly to support the two fund raising organisations of the city and secondly to feature the greek graphic design the best way there is. A favourite destination of Greece was selected at the peak of the tourist season so that as many people possible will attend the exhibition and will carry their impressions all over the world. The exhibition will take place from July 27th to August 18th at the Firkas Fortress, in the heart of the Venetian Harbour of Chania. The exhibition will be open to public daily from 10am to 5pm and from 7pm to 10pm. The coordination of the exhibition is arranged by Vassilis Pitsonis, graphic designer who lives and works in Chania, Crete.
